Are you looking for a fun and stimulating way for your child to spend their summer days? Does your son or daughter enjoy playing outside, making new friends, and learning about the world and themselves? Then sign them up for a month of 'discovery' at our HCNS Summer Discovery Camp.
These are weekly themed camps for children who will turn 3 years of age by Jun 1, 2017, all the way up to pre-kindergarten ages. There will be theme-related activities, water play and lots of outdoor fun! Weekly sessions start June 6 for 4 weeks and run from 8:30am - 1pm, Monday-Thursday. The cost is $145/week. A snack is provided and children bring their own peanut-free lunch.
Starting March 20th: In-House families
Starting March 27th: Alumni families
Starting April 3rd: Open to the public
Come and have 100% permission to play in the mud!! We will make mud, play with (and in) the mud, and perhaps even build a mud hut! We'll also work with clay, creating individualized works of art. And, at the end of the week, we'll have constructed our very own Kid-Wash using the hose, PVC pipes, and whatever else we find helpful. Messy fun is a guarantee! Extra clothes will be a must for this week ~ and, we will do our best to send them home rinsed out!
Using tools and natural materials, the children will create boats and rafts, and have an opportunity to launch them. We will also explore the similarities and differences of the river and creek, and have hours of opportunity to experiment with water in art, sensory activities, dramatic play, and science experiments. Extra clothes will be a must for this week.
Through literature, images, and exploration, we will learn how the eagle builds its amazing nest. Using sticks, mud, wood scraps, cardboard, and gathered item, we will create our very own extra large "eagle" nest ~ big enough for children to climb into! There will be hiking, outdoor observing, brain storming, gathering of materials, and teamwork going on throughout the week!
This week will be full of measuring, scooping, mixing and baking! Each day will be a new recipe and, though samples will be enjoyed, our focus will be on choosing a helping member (or members) of our community with whom to share our delicious creations, as a big thank you for what they do for us
